This ballet, once again powerful in imagery and emotion, set to music by Mikael Karlson, explores the energy and mysteries of the summer solstice night in the Scandinavian tradition. The Joffrey Ballet was founded in the 1950s in Chicago by Robert Joffrey, after whom it is named. Numerous creations by American choreographers (Alvin Ailey, William Forsythe, Mark Morris, Twyla Sharp, and others) established its reputation, which has been further enriched by subsequent generations, of whom Alexander Ekman is one of the most inventive.</div><div><br></div><div> TranscenDanses is a co-production of Productions Internationales Albert Sarfati | Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.</div>
