Description

Summer 1980. Yann Lemée, 28, a philosophy student and homosexual, knocks on the door of his idol, Marguerite Duras. He will never leave her again.<div> The writer quickly attempts to mold the young man's life in her own image, even going so far as to rename him Yann Andréa. Thus begins a dizzying relationship that intertwines truth and fiction, intensity and destruction, and which is still considered one of the great passions that have marked the history of literature.</div><div><br></div><div> Through a fragmented narrative composed of archival footage and reimagined scenes, The Collapse of the Glaciers navigates the story of Yann Lemée, shifting perspectives and attempting to give voice back to the man who became a character in Duras's work. The play confronts what remains idealized in the collective imagination and invites us to question our own ambivalence by placing this relationship on a human scale.</div><div><br></div><div> Can love take root in the fascination of one being for another? Can violence have a place in intimacy? Under what conditions? Where does love end and abuse begin? And, underlying this, what makes posterity decide to retain one version of history or another, and what does it choose to ignore?</div>
