A play that questions the utopia of love and its gendered divisions, all with humor and fantasy.<div> For their second show together, Marie Dompnier and Jan Peters set their story in a strange forest and, dismantling clichés, playfully reverse the expected roles of women and men. Anchored in this incongruity, *Le cafard des Renard* (The Fox's Cockroach) subtly leads us to explore the universal question of "romantic utopia" and what it can evoke, never lacking in imagination, in the strange creatures we are, regardless of our gender or age.</div><div><br></div><div> Lois and Ivan Renard are arguing in their car. Struggling with their faltering love, they tear each other apart and end up causing a pileup as they cross a viaduct on the A89 motorway. A gigantic fireball erupts, and a small car plunges into the void and disappears into the forest.</div><div><br></div><div> How do we love when the world seems to be collapsing? Marie Dompnier and Jan Peters shift roles and characters to humorously dissect the social pressures we all face when it comes to love.</div><div><br></div><div> An amnesiac lover, a young androgynous demon, Doctor Jane Goodall, a penniless dandy and a post-historical woman... These are some of those who will populate the mysterious forest where the play takes place, a place conducive to getting lost and therefore ideal for visiting the question of the utopia of love and, more broadly, for touching on, through joyful detours, the utopias we need to live together.</div><div><br></div>
