This concert celebrates composers who put Scandinavia on the map of great musical nations in the 19th and 20th centuries.<div> This concert, led by the young Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving, showcases composers who put Scandinavia on the map of great musical nations in the 19th and 20th centuries.</div><div><br></div><div> Among them, the Dane Carl Nielsen demonstrates his talent as an orchestrator with a festive and sparkling work, his overture to the opera Mascarade, inspired by the one nicknamed the "Scandinavian Molière", Ludvig Holberg.</div><div> The Violin Concerto by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius is a true classic of the violin and orchestra repertoire. Also featured will be Sibelius's magnificent Seventh Symphony, and the story of one of the most endearing fictional characters in Norwegian literature: the traveler Peer Gynt and his fantastical encounters with trolls.</div><div><br></div>
