An Egyptian icon, Umm Kulthum captivated crowds, and her voice resonated throughout the Maghreb and the Middle East. As for Omar Khayyam, the 11th-century Persian poet and scholar, he wrote of the intoxication of love and the zest for life in passionate verses that she loved to sing.</div><div><br></div><div> It was through Oum Kalthoum, a singer associated with his Moroccan childhood, that Fouad Boussouf discovered the poetry of Omar Khayyam. With Oum, the choreographer pays homage to both, and his hybrid dance, nourished by urban, traditional and contemporary inspirations, unfolds here in contact with live music in the bodies of six dancers whose gestures are as fluid as they are seismic, all in fluidity and sensuality.</div>
