Guided tour: Inside the secrets of the Carmelite convent
To bookDescription
An exceptional discovery of the Carmelite convent, its architecture and its history. The church, now part of the Catholic Institute of Paris, has a rather dull facade.
Inside, you will discover several sumptuous chapels adorned with 17th-century Flemish paintings that survived the French Revolution. The dome, one of the first built in Paris, is richly decorated.
The tour will also include the monks' private chapel, the sacristy, and the old cloister. But it is the garden, immense and completely hidden, that is most impressive.

The entire site is linked to the September Massacres of 1792, in which more than 150 people were killed. One room still bears traces of blood and has been transformed into a small museum. The visit concludes with the discovery of three crypts, one containing the bones of the massacred religious figures and another housing the tomb of the founder of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.

Please note:
The exact meeting place will be indicated on the voucher after purchase.
