With this mature work, featuring a libretto revised by the already highly skilled young Goldoni, Vivaldi triumphed with mezzo-soprano Anna Girò, his most celebrated interpreter, and definitively won over the Venetian elite. Some twenty years ago, Jean-Christophe Spinosi successfully revived this work with the help of a team that would go on to mark the "Vivaldi revival."
