Created in 2003, Gospel River is a cosmopolitan choir (Africa, Caribbean, France, United States...) that naturally demonstrates that Negro spirituals and Gospel are not artistic expressions confined to the North American territory alone.<br><br> Negro spiritual music has its origins in the history of the deportation and enslavement of more than ten thousand Africans to the European continent. It was primarily the prohibition against speaking that led enslaved Black people to unite through work songs—unstructured songs composed of short, sharp phrases, without accompaniment.
