Georges de la Tour. Between Shadow and Light
To bookDescription
From September 11, 2025, to January 25, 2026, the Jacquemart-André Museum will dedicate a groundbreaking exhibition to Georges de La Tour (1593-1652), offering a fresh perspective on the rare and luminous work of one of the greatest French painters of the 17th century. This retrospective will be the first devoted to the artist in France since the landmark exhibition at the Grand Palais in 1997. The exhibition will explore his favorite subjects—genre scenes, figures of penitent saints, and the effects of artificial light—while placing his life and work within the broader context of European Caravaggism, particularly the influence of the French, Lorraine, and Dutch Caravaggisti. Free admission: children under 7, members and staff of the Institut de France, holders of ICOM, ICOMOS, and SNELAC cards, journalists, and holders of a disability card + one accompanying person. Senior rate for those over 65. Reduced rate for students, holders of the Education Pass, and job seekers – upon presentation of valid proof of status. Youth rate for those aged 7-25.
