From my warm body, it presents itself in the form of two voices linked to one another: that of an anonymous homeless man and that of a 19-year-old nursing student.<div> "From My Warm Body," by Gwendoline Soublin, is the culmination of a writing residency that took place during the summer and fall of 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, with students and instructors at the Nursing Training Institute of the Strasbourg University Hospitals. This text is a magnificent testimony and a vibrant tribute to all healthcare professionals, nurses, and others, confronted with the end of life.</div><div> From the very beginning of the performance, we are confronted with someone witnessing his impending death. He is freeing himself from his chaotic life; he has no identity, he is homeless. He was found unconscious near the Town Hall. On this winter night, he shares glimpses of his life with us and confides everything he wishes to take with him: rebellions, injustice, a mother's clumsy love, the harassment of a football coach, his first kiss, the "fuck your mother" impasse, heroin, drinking, the bonfires of Midsummer, the raised arms of victory...</div><div> Then, the last one, this young nursing student, gives her testimony. She's from the countryside, she came to the city to attend nursing school, and she only knows death through that of a skinned hare. And now she knows she's going to witness "her first death in cubicle 8 of this hospital..."</div><div><br></div><div> "From my warm body" is a call for brotherhood, solidarity, and otherness.</div><div> An initiatory text about life and death, and death and life, from within our warm body. A call to life.</div>
