Its musical traditions are one of the most captivating expressions of this diversity. When the Spanish arrived in the Americas at the end of the 15th century, the European Baroque heritage met local practices. Rhythms, dances, and sun-drenched colors inspired European composers, while the continent's musicians appropriated and transformed these influences from elsewhere. Throughout the centuries, these exchanges continued, and South America maintained a vibrant musical identity. In Argentina, tango, in particular, triumphed in the 20th century and its influence spread throughout Europe. At the helm of La Chimera, Eduardo Egüez celebrates the richness of these repertoires.
