Schubert: Quartet No. 12 in C minor, D. 703 Fanny Mendelssohn: String Quartet in E flat major Ravel: String Quartet in F major, M. 35<div> The Cobalt Quartet invites the public on a journey through three masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire, creating a dialogue between the dramatic intensity of Franz Schubert, the luminous poetry of Fanny Hensel and the sonic refinement of Maurice Ravel.</div><div><br></div><div> Renowned for its approach to the Romantic repertoire on period instruments, the Cobalt Quartet has established itself as one of the most distinctive ensembles of the new Canadian generation. Following several acclaimed projects, including a complete concert cycle of Franz Schubert's quartets, the ensemble will soon release its recording of Maurice Ravel's quartet on the ATMA Classique label. Blending Romantic depth, virtuosic brilliance, and luminous timbres, this concert reveals the full artistic personality of the Cobalt Quartet through some of the greatest gems of chamber music.</div><div><br></div><div> Founded in Montreal in 2017, the Cobalt Quartet now occupies a unique place on the Canadian music scene thanks to the coherence of its artistic vision and the scope of its projects. The ensemble is particularly distinguished by its interpretation of the Romantic repertoire on period instruments.</div><div> In 2026, the quartet was invited to Paris to perform on the Générations France Musique program, broadcast live on Radio France, marking a significant step in its international success. That same year, Cobalt released their second album on the ATMA Classique label and made their debut at the iconic Salle Cortot in Paris.</div><div><br></div><div> In 2025, the Cobalt Quartet released its debut album, Reflets du temps (Reflections of Time), celebrating three influential female composers of their era, on the GFN Classics label. In less than a year, the recording surpassed one million streams on streaming platforms and received acclaim in both Canada and Europe. To mark the bicentenary of Franz Schubert's death, the Cobalt Quartet will present, from 2024 to 2028, a complete cycle of the composer's quartets performed on period instruments, in collaboration with the Chapelle musicale du Bon-Pasteur. On the international stage, the quartet has been selected for the prestigious International Joseph Joachim Competition 2025.</div><div><br></div><div> Regularly invited by the country's leading musical institutions, the Cobalt Quartet has performed at venues including the Lanaudière International Festival, the Domaine Forget International Festival, Salle Bourgie, Place des Arts, Palais Montcalm, and the Chapelle musicale du Bon-Pasteur. The Quartet also presented its album Reflets du temps during a French tour and has performed at various festivals in France, such as the Debussy Quartet's Cordes en Ballade and Musique en Bourbonnais.</div>
