French elegance.<p> Built in the early 18th century for a financier of Louis XIV, the Château de Champs was a source of joy and pride for its occupants during the Age of Enlightenment, including the Dukes of La Vallière and the Marquise de Pompadour, prominent members of Louis XV's inner circle.
