The ideas, convictions, and demands defended with strength and vigor until her death by Olympe de Gouges had a considerable influence on the evolution of the status of women in France. Running time: 70 minutes. Joëlle Fossier Auguste, author of "Olympe de Gouges: More Alive Than Ever," has chosen to breathe new life into her play: she directs and performs the role of this exceptional woman of courage and determination, the one who wrote the "Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen" and fought until her death for the various causes dear to her heart. We find her locked in her cell at the Conciergerie, shortly before her trial. She recounts her story to Fabien, her sympathetic jailer, and is then taken before the Revolutionary Tribunal presided over by the ruthless Fouquier-Tinville. There, she fiercely defends her convictions, affirming her ideas and commitments one last time. The verdict is delivered: it is the guillotine for Olympe, who remains courageous and dignified, forcefully declaring the necessity of ensuring her demands endure after her. The final speech of history's first feminist is like a cry hurled at posterity. Performers: Joëlle Fossier Auguste. Directed by: Joëlle Fossier Auguste
