The Expiatory Chapel: nestled within the Louis XVI square, the Expiatory Chapel is a small, discreet and little-known neo-classical gem.<br> It was erected at the request of Louis XVIII on the site of the Madeleine Cemetery, infamous during the Revolution. It was there that the bodies of Louis XVI were thrown on January 21, 1793, of Marie Antoinette on October 16 of the same year, and of many others. A place of remembrance, it also pays tribute to the Swiss Guards, massacred during the storming of the Tuileries Palace on August 10, 1792.<br> Our steps will lead us from the gardens to the chapels, where we will decipher the symbolism of the decorations, the crypt and its stained glass windows.<br> We will also discuss the cult of relics with some surprising revelations, particularly about the location of Charlotte Corday's head.<br> Where is she?<br><br> <b>Please note:</b><br> An entrance fee of 5.5 euros per person must be added on site.
