Description

Three characters find themselves in the same room after their deaths. They are Garcin, a journalist, Inès, a postal worker, and Estelle, a wealthy socialite. They do not know each other, come from very different backgrounds, and share neither the same beliefs nor the same tastes.<br><br> In this play, a closed-door trial begins, where each of the three characters judges and is judged for the acts that make up their existence. Jean-Paul Sartre brilliantly describes "his hell" here, in which there is neither executioner nor instruments of physical torture: "hell is other people.".
