There was the Kingdom of kyiv, defended by the bogatyrs.<br> Their exploits were recounted by the guslars: a very ancient oral literature, the bylines of the kyiv cycle.<br> The most famous of the bogatyrs, the strongest, the most just, was a simple peasant, Ilya, the old Cossack.<br> A storyteller recounts the quest of this hero.
