Description

The new courthouse opens its doors to us! + possibility to attend civil or criminal hearings live. With its 38 floors, reaching 160m above the rehabilitated Batignolles district, the building designed by Renzo Piano received the Equerre d'argent in 2017, one of the most prestigious French architecture awards, for also being a model of environmental solutions.
This site is today the largest judicial center in Europe: the High Court, the Police Court, the Social Security Court (TASS) and its 20 District Courts are indeed brought together in a single entity.
This is where 2000 staff now work: magistrates, clerks, lawyers and civil servants with the 6000 individuals or litigants summoned each day.

We will walk through the main hall, from where we will have an overview of the 6 floors of the first base, and from where, at the end of our tour, we can reach the 90 courtrooms, where everyone will have the opportunity to illustrate the judiciary by attending live trials, whether civil or criminal (offenses)... and we will also not forget to pay our respects to the premises of the "New 36", former Judicial Police of 36, quai des orfèvres on the Ile de la Cité!

Attention :
- Part of the guided tour takes place outside the Courthouse, and is therefore not suitable for wheelchairs.
- No metallic objects are allowed for inspection (sharp objects, pocket knives, scissors...).
- An identity card / or passport is required at the courthouse checkpoint.
- The visit may be cancelled if there are fewer than 8 participants.
