Description

With Zewoaï, Michel Zenino returns to the sextet format and a vibrant aesthetic, drawing on the best sources of jazz history. His sextet was, in 1988, the first group to win the La Défense Jazz Orchestra competition unanimously. Portrait by Arnaud Merlin

"Michel Zenino is a unifier. A blender of music, sounds, images, and adventures. Not simply a skilled instrumentalist, adept at accompanying a soloist, but truly a facilitator, a genuine orchestrator of personalities. A quality (...) which he uses intelligently within his own ensembles, which have won numerous awards at major orchestral competitions. (...) Whether it's personal or borrowed material, the story, the scenario he submits to himself—or that is offered to him—is transfigured to become the controlled space for a sonic organization, a musical and poetic dramaturgy.
A vibrant, invigorating, and invigorating aesthetic, nourished by the best sources of jazz history, a strong and fulfilled sensibility, an art of varying moods and colors..." Arnaud Merlin, journalist (Le Monde de la Musique, Jazzman, ...), producer for France Musique and member of the "Académie du Jazz" & "Académie Charles-Cros"

Michel will present a mix of old and new compositions arranged for this new group.
