Description

The most beautiful Parisian arcades: This historical stroll beneath the charming glass-roofed arcades of Paris will discreetly lead you from one street to the next, the concept of transition being undoubtedly a Parisian invention. From the spectacles of the Grands Boulevards to the pleasure galleries of the Palais Royal, discover the vibrant life of the city in the 19th century, a blend of elegance, diverse commerce, and intrigue.
The walk will allow you to explore the best-known and most beautiful passages on the right bank, from north to south, appreciating the different evolutions of these atypical and timeless places.

The Grands Boulevards district is home to several very old arcades. By walking through them, we can appreciate the very different atmosphere that emanates from each.
Each passageway offers an escape from the noise of the street and from traditional or large-scale shops. Some arcades house boutiques, mainly selling antiques or old books, which have been open since the 19th century.
Since the renovation and resurgence of Parisian covered passages in the 1980s, some arcades have become very popular. Trendy restaurants, cutting-edge or unusual boutiques alternate with older or more traditional shops. Further along, another passage has been completely and beautifully redecorated. All the shops have been repurposed to sell a variety of toys and electronic games.
The tour continues through magnificent, historic, and prestigious arcades before entering the gardens of the Palais Royal and discovering its historic galleries and elegant atmosphere. Nearby, the first gas-lit arcade in Paris allows visitors to step back into the 19th century, as the decor and ambiance have remained unchanged, even though some of the world-renowned shops are clearly modern.

After a short walk, we'll enter one of Paris's most famous covered passages, also recently restored, boasting the highest glass roof in the city. The shopfronts and decor, along with the unique atmosphere, add to the charm of the place. The passage beyond is still being renovated. While some shops are closed, it houses a superb and rare sawmill still operating in Paris!
The tour will end not far from there, in a hidden and little-known gallery, where plants and colours abound, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

Please note:
After booking, you will receive the meeting place and the guide's contact details on the voucher.
