Come and admire the fully restored Jean de Bourbon Chapel and the stained-glass windows and altars created by the internationally renowned artist Sarkis to illuminate this jewel of Flamboyant Gothic architecture. Cluny Abbey: Founded in 910, Cluny Abbey exerted its influence throughout Europe during the Middle Ages with its abbey church of extraordinary proportions: the "Maïor Ecclesia." The highest vaults in the Romanesque world still bear witness to its immense size. A witness to the daily life of the monastery, the Farinier, built in the 13th century, has retained its original timber frame and now houses capitals from the choir of the abbey church. Cluny Abbey regained its grandeur in the 18th century with the complete reconstruction of the monastic buildings, which the monks used for only a few decades. In the vast cloister and galleries, the footsteps of monks in procession still echo… Since July 9, 2025, discover the permanent exhibition of the Cluny coin hoard revealed during the 2017 archaeological excavations: more than 2,200 Cluniac silver deniers and oboles and 21 gold dinars, as well as a magnificent gold signet ring, including an antique intaglio in red sardonyx.
