Brel & Barbara: When all you have is love!
To bookDescription
Musical show. Avignon Off 2024 creation. A duo that unites the worlds of Brel and Barbara in songs, words and images, like a final encounter between these two beings "fallen from the same star" (Marie Chaix).

The close and mysterious relationship between Brel and Barbara in life, their friendship, extends into their respective works, placed here in parallel, in dialogue: their quest for the absolute, their vision of the world nourished both by the wounds of childhood and by their "sacred taste for life"!
Inevitably, it speaks to us of love!

Martine Bousquet and Hervé Tirefort, who were highly acclaimed for their 2022 creation in Avignon "Barbara, mes Hommes", continue here their sensitive and always very well-documented research around Barbara.

Brel and Barbara met in the early 1950s in Brussels when they were not yet famous. It was love at first sight, a friendship that would last a lifetime.
Brel said "Barbara is like a brother to me...she's a bit crazy, but it's a nice kind of crazy!": he even encouraged her to write her own songs when she was a performer (notably of Brel and Brassens) at the Cabaret de l'Écluse in Paris in the early 1960s.

"Quand on n'a que l'amour" is a sung and theatrical show, built from this complicity, images from the film "Franz*" and songs whose themes echo, intersect, and mingle.
The backdrop includes war, childhood, foolishness, travel, the quest for the absolute, but also humor and love, of course!

Nothing is ever lukewarm, never banal: without passion, no life is possible, one must burn oneself out and always journey towards an absolute, towards one's truth.

Cheating is not an option!
